Many people are selling a backlit keyboard for the Dell Inspiron R15 5520. Some people have reported that it will not work. After ordering one and installing it just like my Dell E6410 and having no luck working I found that it had an extra cable.

This cable is needed to provide power which no one explains in their listing. You need to remove the keyboard from the laptop which does not require removing any screw. Check just under the keyboard connector for another spot. If there is no connector, you cannot use a backlit keyboard.

If you have the connector just like the keyboard then you can add this backlit keyboard.

You may be able to jury rig something but I did not try.
